Kod, a new code-centered text editor for the Mac, opened its beta today. I’ve downloaded the app, and it works fairly well, though I couldn’t find how to use the syntax highlighting or some other features. That’s hardly surprising, though, considering it’s version 0.0.1. The Chrome-inspired UI is clean and minimalist. Altogether, this looks like a very promising app! Go to kodapp.com to check it out.

UPDATE: Kod just went open-source!

UPDATE 2: Syntax highlighting is actually really simple: it’s just based on the file’s type. For instance, an HTML file open in Kod will automatically use HTML syntax highlighting.
