Apple May Release Free Version of MobileMe

It was noted (via Macworld) that Apple’s MobileMe online service changed the standard account’s name from “Individual” to “Full Member.” This suggests a Lite version may be on its way. Apple’s WWDC keynote will be the perfect time to launch such a service (the company first released MobileMe at WWDC 2008).

The new version will almost certainly be free, but the limits on its features can only be projected. Apple is currently beta-testing a new version of MobileMe’s webmail, so new features might show themselves Monday also. Another possibility is that the full MobileMe will drop in price; a $50 or $40 price point would grab many new users.
